While our nation seeks a solution to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the recent killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor has brought to the forefront a different pandemic, the disease of racism which our nation has been wrestling with for centuries.
The Executive Board of Teamsters Local 202 stands in solidarity with the families of these individuals in the pursuit of justice and the condemnation of those responsible for these senseless deaths.
Since its inception, the Teamsters Union, as part of the American Labor movement, has been a champion of protecting Labor Rights. Part of the founding fundamentals of our organization is the pursuit of justice and the protection of civil and human rights for all. The struggles for workers’ rights and civil rights are inseparable.
These tragic events have made it abundantly clear that we must continue to speak up, so that all of our brothers and sisters have the protections that must be afforded to all Americans. Our Union and its Membership are committed to utilizing our collective power via political and community outreach to eliminate racism from our society and our community.
Together, as a Union, we will continue to fight for a truly democratic and just society.
